Construction of 20 No. 2 bed apartments

Overview

Code completed the project to construct 20 new HNBC standard apartments on the site of a former Social club, this was on the remains of a 200-year-old quarry. The client was a first time private developer and we managed to negotiate the contract after the client had been unable to agree costs with other contractors.

Construction details

A traditional brick and block construction method was designed and approved to carefully fit in amongst a mixture of neighbouring properties. A tight programme was undertaken and this was severely pressed due to the unknown problems within the ground resulting in far larger foundations required than originally envisaged. Code completed the design and install of several elements including floors, stairs, roof structure

Better value

Due to the issues in the ground and the clients fixed budget Code had to review budgets regularly and provide cost savings and value engineering to reduce any cost over run. Value engineering resulted in savings of over £30,000 to the original scope without reducing performance or compromising on quality.

Health and Safety

Not only was the project was completed without RIDDOR accidents but there were no injuries to report during the entire construction process.
