Whitby Business Park Industrial Units

Overview

Code have completed the design and build of 6 industrial units comprising of steel frames and finished in metal cladding with feature brickwork panels. These units are the first that the Council has constructed in many years and it will pave the way for future similar projects to increase the local capacity for smaller start up units which the area urgently requires. By re-designing the building layout, we managed to rationalise the architectural intent drawings to create additional lettable space for the council.

Construction details

Code completed the design and build of six industrial units compiling of several elements including –

• Pad Foundations
• Reinforced concrete ground floor slabs
• Insulation under slab on DPM & Sand blinding
• Steelwork design, fabrication, supply, installation, new structural steel frame
• Roof and wall cladding
• Gutters
• Roller Shutters & Steel Doors
• All internal & external walls
• Timber joists & plasterboard ceilings
• Electrical/fire alarm/Security alarms installation
• Mechanical/Ventilation/Sanitary installation
• Internal floor finishes & decoration
• External carpark/entrance tarmacadam
• Drainage
• Landscaping.

Challenges

A complicated design of foundations and retaining walls required extension civil engineering, this was compounded by all main services requiring diversions, as they all ran within the footpath of the new buildings.

Health & Safety

Completed without any accidents of RIDDOR injuries.
