Leeds College of Building strip out and subsequent remodelling of new Painting and Decorating department

Overview

Leeds College of Building have recently moved to a brand-new Building, however this has left the existing North Street building looking a little dated.

We have been instructed to undertake the re-modelling of the new Painting and Decorating department, which involves a strip out and subsequent remodelling of over 1000M2 of student learning space.

The new layout included creating over 60 learner bays where students can practice skills and learn their trade.

Construction details

The works comprise of the refurbishment of existing workshops. The works will
involve the removal of some existing partitions and forming new workshop pods. Other works
will include installation of LED lighting, new sinks and water supplies.

Challenges

All works had to be completed whilst the building was still occupied by members of the teaching staff and students throughout, so minimal noise and interruption had to be maintained throughout the project.
