Borough Market refurbishment works under the clock

Overview

This refurbishment follows the recent demolition of central greengrocers around the clock and was primarily intended to re-instate original octagonal timber joinery and associated area of hard landscaping.

Construction details:

• Preparation of concrete base around clock.
• Replacement of sandstone kerbs to the perimeter of the raised hardstanding.
• Making good to existing hard surfaces.
• The construction of specialist joinery installation that is to form octagonal surround to clock including buttresses and seating.
• Provision of seating around cast iron planters (planters by others)
• Associated utility services of water supply and updating existing electrical distribution and provision of local feature lighting.

Challenges

The build was carried out with minimum disruption to the surrounding Market stalls
